McCarthy Quality Homes

This projects was completed in eight weeks during Oct/Nov 2011. The focus was on creating a space which was bright and welcoming, but was also warm and comfortable all year round.

From the start we focused on ensuring the space was properly detailed and well insulated. The steel box section was insulated on site prior to being erected, and was further insulated internally before plastering to ensure minimal cold bridging and reduced condensation risks. The windows are high quality alu clad timber. The sliding door unit despite being over 3m in diameter can be opened and closed with just a gentle push.

The space is heated with a single radiator, connected to the existing heating system. So far, the space has proved to be extremely comfortable, regardless of the outside temperate, despite the walls being nearly 80% glass!
